The "Journaal van Syrphidae" (JvS) is founded on 01-04-2022 with Volucella, the previous Syrphidae (Insect, Diptera) journal, as its predecessor
It is an e-based journal (ISSN 2949-6748) with continuous publication of articles, published under the umbrella of the Syrphidae in trees website and financed by the Syrphidae Foundation.
The logo is a combination of the logos of the Syrphidae in tree website consisting of a pupa of Mallota cimbiciformis and an adult of Mallota fuciformis made by a Dutch artist Karin de Jong.
The same style has been used for the logo's of Syrphidae in trees as for the Syrphidae foundation as part of the so called housestyle.
JvS is sponsored by several people and compagnies to be able to publish papers on all aspects of Syrphidae (Insects, Diptera) also called Hoverflies or Flowerflies. The flies show a wide variety of mimicry and play a major role in pollination. Moreover they are used as bio-control agents as aphid feeding insects and they also are important decomposers.
